Our Story

Why we started Northline

We noticed a pattern: so many brilliant small businesses either had no website at all, a very outdated one that hadn't been touched in years, or were relying entirely on a Facebook page. These businesses were excellent at what they did – whether that was plumbing, hairdressing, personal training or running a café – but their online presence just didn't reflect that.

The problem wasn't that they didn't care. It was that the options available didn't work for them. DIY website builders promised simplicity but turned into weekend-eating frustration sessions. Big agencies charged thousands of pounds and spoke a language that felt deliberately confusing. Both options took too much time, money, or patience.

Northline exists to give small businesses a third option: a simple, affordable, done-for-you website service.

We've designed our process to be as simple and stress-free as possible. Here's what happens from first contact to launch:

Content & structure

We help you gather any existing text, photos and branding, and outline what pages your website needs. Don't worry if you don't have everything ready – we'll guide you.

Design & build

We design and build your website, then send you a preview link so you can see it and request any changes. We'll refine it until you're happy.

Launch & support

Once you're happy, we put your site live on your domain (or export it for you to host). Build & Host clients get ongoing monthly support and updates.

Hi, I'm Andy, the founder of Northline Web Studio. I started this business because I kept meeting brilliant small business owners with terrible – or non-existent – websites.

These were people who were amazing at what they did. Skilled tradespeople who could fix anything. Hairdressers with loyal clients. Personal trainers who genuinely changed lives. But when I looked at their online presence, it was either completely missing, stuck in 2008, or just a Facebook page that was hard to find.

The problem wasn't that they didn't care. It was that the solutions available didn't work for them. DIY website builders promised simplicity but delivered frustration. Big agencies charged thousands and spoke a language designed to confuse. Both options demanded too much time, money, or patience.

I wanted to create something different: a simple, affordable, done-for-you website service for people who'd rather focus on running their business than wrestling with technology.

The kind of clients I love working with are people who are great at their trade but genuinely don't want to think about websites, SEO, or hosting. You can ask me "basic" questions and I won't make you feel silly – that's the whole point. You focus on what you're good at, and I'll take care of this bit.
